The other day I visited the Wet ‘n Joy water park in Lonavala[1]There’s a Wet ‘n Joy in Shirdi as well. with my two close friends. This was our maiden visit to the park and also we believe for two of us the first to any major water or amusement park in several years.
I have a faint memory of visiting Suraj Water Park sometime around 2008. One of us had previously gone to the Imagicaa water park in Khopoli (not to be confused with Aqua Imagicaa in Indore and Surat, although promoted by the same Malpani Group that also operates Wet ‘n Joy[2]https://www.lonavala.wetnjoy.in/water-park/malpani-group/). My last trip to any water park was to the tiny one in Silent Hill Resort in Manor, Palghar, which has gone to the dogs now.
Wet ‘n Joy Review: Visited on 3 May 2025
Here’s a detailed review of Wet ‘n Joy water park in the form of questions (that we asked ourselves and sometimes didn’t find answers to) and answers that may help you plan and optimise your trip better.
We didn’t visit the amusement park (even though our ticket included its entry), so these FAQs only cover the water park.
I booked online through its official website. We went on a Saturday (3 May 2025), so weekend prices applied. You can book offline too directly on the day of visit, if you’re a small group. For larger groups (of 30 or more people), it’s best to contact them beforehand. You can also book via BookMyShow but it opens only a week ahead and doesn’t have the option of Express ticket or dinner combo ticket.
Once you pay for your booking, you’ll get an email with all your visit details. You’ll have to show this at the counter on the day of the visit to get a hard copy of your tickets and wrist bands. Unfortunately, the email arrives late and there is no other confirmation (no transaction ID, incorrect visit date) about your booking till it arrives. (See image below.)
No. However, Wet ‘n Joy ticket prices are generally lower on weekdays (Mondays through Fridays). On Tuesdays and Thursdays, it offers limited-time special offers, which are usually sold out for weeks.[3]At the time of writing, all adult tickets at these special prices were sold out till June 2025. There are other offers too but none of it applied to us.
I paid roughly INR 8,000 for 3 express combo tickets. This included entry into both Wet ‘n Joy water and amusement parks. This is not a ballpark figure to go with as I understand the park ticket prices change frequently. For example, the summer prices will be higher than monsoon prices.
No. All tickets are combo tickets. However, you can buy tickets for just the amusement park.
The Express ticket allowed us to skip the regular waiting lines at most major water park rides. You can skip once per ride, and if you want to enjoy that ride again, you have to join the regular line. The waiting time at regular lines stretch anywhere from 10-40 minutes, depending on the day of your visit and the ride. Popular rides such as Tornado, Master Blaster, and Xtreme Volcano have longer waiting lines. Naturally, weekends are crowded, so an Express ticket makes sense. If you’re visiting on a weekday, Express ticket is not required. In a few rides, we had to wait about 10-15 minutes even in the Express queue. The longest waiting time was for Loopy River.
No. Express ticket only covers about 10 major rides. It doesn’t cover Loopy River, Crazy River, or any of the capsule rides like Super Curl and Drop Zone, despite a counter there earmarked for Express ticket holders.
We found it totally worth it (i.e., the extra INR 700 we paid over regular ticket prices) because we visited the park on a Saturday. Because it was a long weekend (due to Maharashtra Day), the water park was not too crowded. Still, we felt the Express ticket allowed us to cover almost all rides by 4 PM.
Yes, one water park ride was closed for maintenance. Unfortunately, it was a ride included in the Express ticket.
You can reach either early or late to miss the crowd. The park opens at 9 AM. We reached the park from Mumbai around 10.30 AM and were inside the park by 11 AM. With the Express ticket, we were able to enjoy 90% of all rides in the water park by 4 PM.
Arrive early or late. if possible, wear your swimming (lycra) costume beneath your normal clothes. While at the parking, wear ample sunscreen. If you’re a group, try to fit the stuff you’ll need inside the park into a single backpack. You’ll need to rent a locker and one locker can house only a backpack and 3-4 pairs of flip-flops. We were 3 people and we took only one mobile phone and one wallet, other than towels, a bar of soap, body lotion, and few dry clothes. Avoid carrying anything that will delay your frisking or security check, like food items and intoxicants like tobacco or beer cans.
Other than the park tickets and travel expenses, we spent on the following:
– INR 100 for car parking (mandatory)
– INR 200 for one locker (optional if you go hands-free)
– INR 380 for one lunch combo x3 (no other option as you’ll get hungry)
– INR 70 for a cool drink (optional)
We didn’t spend on icecream, water, or other snacks that are sold everywhere in the park. Wet ‘n Joy has many restaurants and food outlets inside, but most of them sell combos. That is, you cannot buy one portion of chhole and bhature, for instance. You have to get the dal-rice, gulab jamun, and other items with it.
Because one of the main restaurants (Ocean – Retreat) has a free water dispenser in the wash area.
Go for thrill rides, mat rides, and anything that moves your body a lot before lunch. This means 80% of all rides. After lunch, you may not be in a position to go for the thrill rides. We found ourselves lazing in the wave pool post-lunch, followed by 3 back-to-back trips to Xtreme Volcano, our favourite ride.
After frisking and security check, head to one of the ticket counters and show your online ticket PDF. You’ll get hard copies of your tickets and wrist bands for each person. After this, head further inside to the locker and changing room area. Rent a locker for INR 200 (plus INR 100 as refundable deposit), stash your belongings in it, and get ready. Don’t forget to carry cash or a card as you’ll need it to buy food during lunchtime. You can keep this in your bag in the locker. The locker has a key with an rubber, elastic keychain that you can ear in your wrist while enjoying the park.
We loved Tornado and Xtreme Volcano the most. Nightmare comes a close third. Loopy River and Cyclone are decent water rides. All mat-based rides are average. This is just our opinion against anyone else’s.
We had to wait for too long to enter the following rides: Loopy River (30 minutes), Cyclone (20 minutes), and Nightmare (10 minutes).
We were not at all prepared for all the stair climbing (and slow walkers). For almost all rides, you have climb at least 3-4 flights of stairs, which can get exhausting pretty fast. Wet ‘n Joy water park rides are designed in a way that one structure has entries for 2-3 rides, so you’ll see yourself climbing the same structure that many times to enjoy the rides. Climbing the stairs was one reason why we stuck to the wave pool and Xtreme Volcano post-lunch.
We found the wave pool to be slightly intimidating. If you’re a water park non-enthusiast like us, you may not be prepared for some of the waves. Also, the blasting music they play when wave pool comes on was irritating. I saw a few people wearing cotton balls to cover their ears.
Against popular opinion, we found the combo meals at its Ocean restaurant decent. At 380 a pop, we enjoyed the meals. The lack of options for individual items and overpriced soft drinks were a letdown. When buying the park tickets, there is an option to go for lunch buffet and discounted food voucher. I won’t recommend either because lunch buffet menu keeps changing and the food voucher can only be used for individual items (like bottled water or icecream) and cannot be used for combo meals.
Yes. But it would have been nicer if the ticket prices were about 25% lower. I can’t imagine someone bearing the cost for a family of 4 to the water park. Inflation has truly gotten worse over the last 10 years. We want to go back but we’ve decided to revisit some other water park after 3-5 years.
Decent. We did come across a few groups of men who were misbehaving with a couple of foreigner kids, and the park staff doing nothing to stop them. Other than this, there was usual banter from groups of youths. We didn’t witness any harassing, ogling, or catcalling, but you’re taking this from a group of men. Of course, there were irritating kids here and there, who can be easily dealt with a rigorous splash of water when their parents aren’t looking.
No. However, we guess some people moved to the amusement park after lunch.
Yes. However, most rides require more than one person, so you’ll have to team up with random folks to enjoy them. We were 3 of us and for 2-people rides, we had to find a loner.
Surprisingly, the water didn’t give us rashes. We wore sunscreen and had a quick shower in the evening to avoid the chlorine- and pH-treated water to dry on our skin.
Why just one? Here are a few tips:
– Wear or carry your swimming costumes. Use full-sleeve costumes for better protection from the chlorine.
– Carry sunscreen and after-shower body lotion or moisturising cream.
– Carry sunglasses.
– If you can’t stay away from your phone, buy a waterproof mobile cover with a lanyard.
– Carry a bar of soap and towel.
– If weekends are the only time you can go, go on a Saturday. Less crowd and you have the Sunday to rest.
